MEET THE AUTHOR

Antony is a marine scientist turned fantasy writer who swapped field notes for tall tales and salt spray for story arcs. After years spent studying the ocean and its creatures, he now channels that underwater magic into the pages of his books.

Driven by a lifelong love of the sea, Antony writes to share the mystery and wonder of the underwater realm with readers of all ages, inviting them to dive into epic adventures, uncover ancient secrets, and lose themselves in the breathtaking beauty and magnificence of the marine world.

When he’s not crafting stories of underwater kingdoms and mischievous merfolk, you’ll find him surfing, snorkeling or paddleboarding. But in the event the weather turns wild, he's curled up with a coffee and a good book.

Through his stories, Antony hopes to inspire awe, spark curiosity, and leave every reader with a deeper connection to the world beneath the waves.

WHY I STARTED WRITING ?

I started writing during a grey, rainy winter at my hometown in the UK. With time on my hands and little to distract me, I found myself sitting quietly in my parent’s conservatory, listening to the patter of rain on the glass. I picked up a pen, more out of curiosity than intention, and began to write.

At first, it was simply a way to pass the time. But as the words flowed, I found myself getting lost in my imagination. Hours passed without notice. I hadn’t set out to become a writer, or to publish a book, but the more I wrote, the more I enjoyed it. The process became something far deeper than just storytelling.

WHY aRCHIE?

Writing Archie’s story was a way for me to untangle my own thoughts. It helped me explore emotions, work through personal challenges, and see things beyond the narrow lens of my own perspective.

In that sense, this book has been an emotional journey, one filled with laughter, reflection, and even a few tears.

It's a story that has poured from my heart, and putting it out into the world is as exhilarating as it is vulnerable.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Since finishing the first book, I’ve continued writing. The second in the Archie Widemouth series is well underway and will hopefully be with you soon.

I’ve also begun creating a series of children’s spin-off books set in Archie’s world. These are playful, ocean-inspired stories that explore sea creatures, their habitats, and the small but meaningful lessons they have to teach us.

I never imagined sharing this world with others. But now that I am, I hope you enjoy reading about it, just as much as I’ve loved creating it.
